That would just about describe my race today. I knew it was going to be a rough one but I didn’t expect the time I got today. My finish time was 32:54 and I have to say that was probably the worst time I have ever gotten in a 5k. I don’t even think my first 5k last year was that slow.. It was not a good feeling.
I KNOW, I KNOW… I finished and that is all that matters… well I say that is crap… my competitive side doesn’t accept that.. YES my foot was killing me and I’m certain that played into today because I had to stop like 3 times and walk.
I guess having another freeze session on the plantar warts on the Thursday before the run was not a wise decision… DUH! My doctor said he wouldn’t recommend running and I guess I should have heeded his advice but I’m stubborn and wanted the damn t-shirt! So again I did NOT beat last years time and I’m almost the point of chalking 2008 up to a lost year with the foot issues I have struggled with so far. I am not giving up by any means but need to bring my expectations down until my foot heals and I’m back to 100%.
Cheryl and Heidi had great runs. Both finished ahead of me and Paxton had the pickle there to help the cripple cross the finish line as you can see above.
Thanks for reading and as always there are more photos in the Flickr box on the left. Feel free to leave a comment! I could use something uplifting

Tammy, You are waaaayyy too hard on yourself! You had it frozen again. This too shall pass. Patience is a virtue.
Hang in there.
Tammer i hate to say this, but I believe you would better serve yourself and your foot if you stayed off of it until it was completely healed and not try and run any more until then. You have your swimming pool to stay in shape with as swimming is a very good non impact exercise. i know you are impatient but there comes a time when you have to give in to reality.
Your Dad is right. If I was in your shoes I would not be signing up for any more races until you are at least 85% healthy.
I know it’s tough to do, but better to sit out 3 weeks now than to get more messed up and forced to sit out 3 months later.
As far as something uplifting? I don’t know… you got a T-Shirt. I never wear any of mine, guess I’m gonna make a quilt out of them some day.
Ok I asked for uplifting! You people are bringing me down
I know that I have to give up the running for a while. The next one I pre-registered for is July 13th and I will play it by ear to see how I feel when that one approaches. I’m going to try and keep my legs strong with swimming and biking until then and hopefully will see some kind of improvement.
Sorry to bring you down baby, but i really believe it is in your best interests. Oh and I know you hate to hae a stranger agree with me. lol
I’m glad I could be there to help you. I too have had many problems that sidetrack my running. But most of us runners are slightly imbalanced and tend to run through things that keep others on the couch. My mantra at times has been ‘Dig deep, finish strong.’
Keep on running and when things get tough, remember the pickle!
OMG! The Pickle signed my blog! That is AWESOME! Thank you Pickle for your uplifting comments!
