4 weeks to go

glasscitylogoI officially starting to get nervous about the Glass City Marathon. The main reason I’m starting to get nervous is that I’m having a hard time getting the runs in to continue to train. This week I have done nothing! I haven’t ran since Melt the Ice on Saturday. I’ve got to find the time. It’s starting to freak me out a bit (ok a lot). I don’t want to say I’ve lost motivation but it sure feels that way! I started too early on the training. I realize this now. I should have counted backwards 10 weeks and started then. I’ve got 4 weeks to get back on track and knowing that is half the battle I guess. Tips? Anyone? Anyone? I’m all ears!

  1. 4 weeks out, you are still in good shape.

They typically build a 2 week taper period in Half Mary training plans. So you can try to get what runs you can the rest of this week. Then look at the last week of your training plan and plan on running that the week leading up to the Half. Keep working back like that until you get to this coming week and you will be set.

Let me know if that was confusing.

  2. Thanks for the advice Charles! I am definitely going to give it my best. I got some mileage in tonight and will for the rest of this week and then pick up my training plan on week 7 next Monday. Loads of excuses for not doing it but really the blame lies with me and laziness. The run tonight felt descent even after a few days off.
