Half Marathon – checked off my list..

picture-1

I survived! It was hot, miserable and long but I made it. There were times during the run that I thought about calling it quits and I talked myself out of it. I definitely didn’t set any records but my husband told me I set a “personal best” by completing it so I guess I will take that. My time was 3:01:49, about 30 minutes longer than I thought it would take but honestly I was so dehydrated I was worried whether or not I could finish. I drank at every water stop and walked some of the race. The heat was not something I was used too. Training for 14 week in cold weather and then running in hot was a shock to the system. The discrepancy you see in the clock below and to the left is because the half marathon started close to 10 minutes late. All in all it was a good experience. I’m not sure if I would be up for another one or not. If you ask me today I would say NO WAY but in a month you never know..

  1. You did it! Good for you, Tammy. Your husband is right–you now have a PR for the half-marathon. And now on to the marathon PR. :-)

    • Whoa now… LOL I don’t know if I have it in me to go double that distance. OMG I was ready to die yesterday. My son called me the human salt lick because of the amount of salt I had sweat out on my arms and face. It was tough! A full marathon might kill me :-)

  2. GREAT JOB!!!!!! I knew you could do it!!!! Congrats!!!!!

  3. Thanks Deb. Ready for your 10k? How is the training going?

Hey, your overall place is exactly halfway up the field! That’s a real good job!

  5. Thanks Charles. I guess I didn’t even notice that. Guess that’s not too bad then.. I’ll take it! :-)

  6. No updates here in a while.

I hope I’m ready for the 10k. I ran the course Wednesday in the rain and might have gone a little too fast to fully recover by Sunday. Hoping to hit 8 min/mi on race day.

  7. Yes I have been a slacker in more ways than one. Slacker in blogging and slacker in running. I have only ran a handful of times since GCM. I’m sure you will do well! 8 min/mi WOW that would be great! I’m looking at around 12 if I’m lucky.. I will finish but it won’t be pretty.. :-)

  8. Yeah, but 8 min/mi won’t be enough to beat Glotzbecker and he’s my only competition so far in the Race Series. One can never run fast enough I guess. I’m happy to have him there to push me though.

You should do well race day, at least the weather will be perfect.

  9. Congratulations. Your blog is so inspirational, thanks for all the wonderful posts!
